Harmonies and Heartfelt Lyrics: Shriya's Latest Single 'On My Mind' Strikes a Chord

In the vibrant world of Indian Pop and R&B, a rising star is making waves with her latest single, "On My Mind." Meet Shriya, a 17-year-old Mumbai-based singer/songwriter who effortlessly weaves together the realms of Pop and R&B/Soul. In a musical landscape often dominated by cliches, Shriya brings a breath of fresh air with her honest lyrics, wistful melodies, and a sound that resonates with a diverse audience.

Shriya's musical journey began at the tender age of 14 when she released her first original single, 'Tell Me.' However, her passion for music traces back even earlier, showcasing a talent that goes beyond her years. Influenced by jazz legends like Ella Fitzgerald and pop/R&B pioneers such as Daniel Caesar and Erykah Badu, Shriya has developed a genre-fluid taste palette that sets her apart.

The latest addition to Shriya's discography, "On My Mind," released on January 12th, 2024, is a poignant exploration of fleeting happiness in relationships. The teenager's acceptance of the ephemeral nature of joy is reflected in the soft, somber, yet paradoxically uplifting melodies and lyrics of the track.

Shriya's recording process for "On My Mind" was a spontaneous adventure, as she walked into the session with no specific reference in mind. Collaborating with producer Yohan, they let their feelings guide them, turning emotions into notes that beautifully encapsulate the essence of the song.

The recording of "On My Mind" took place at Island City Studios, where Shriya enjoyed the creative process, especially recording harmonies. The experience, filled with warmth and layers, speaks to the depth of Shriya's musical expression.

Beyond her solo career, Shriya has had notable career highlights, including opening for Shankar Ehsaan Loy at the age of 12, performing at the Royal Opera House, and recording an ad for India's Biggest Beauty Brand – Nykaa at just 16.

Shriya's journey is a testament to her dedication, talent, and a genuine love for music. As she continues to captivate audiences, her collaboration preferences include Kayan, Yashraj, and Meba Ofilia locally, and internationally, she dreams of working with Daniel Caesar, The Internet (Band), Doja Cat, and Ariana Grande.

So, dive into the world of Shriya, where music is not just a composition but a journey through warmth, fuzz, sunshine, relaxation, and meditation – much like the comforting embrace of a hug. It's a reminder that in the relatable story she tells, there's a teenager out there feeling the same way, and Shriya's music is the comforting companion they didn't know they needed.
