An artist who believes ‘What goes around comes around,’ Elly O’Keeffe is an Irish artist based in London for 8 years now. She comes from a family of 6, all of them musical. Two of them are also artists like her. Growing up in a family of musicians, she has been singing since she was 6-years old. She became a musician when she was just 13 years old and had Jeff Buckley, Radiohead, Joni Mitchell, Tom Waits, and Eva Cassidy as some of her influences.
Some of her other singles are ‘Gold,’ ‘Hold Together Now,’ and ‘Misled.’ She has been in and out of the music industry. “Music is something you can’t stop making because it keeps moving without you, but I’m okay with that,” she added. Defining her story as ‘deep,’ she is someone who cannot do without love, music, autumn time, wine and seafood linguine.
‘Remember Who You Were,’ her latest release is a rootsy-heavy guitar-driven track. Released on the 20th of October, the song has powerful vocals with heavy reverb on the same and interesting retro organ sounds. The inspiration behind writing the song was the concept of getting back to the person you used to be before you loved someone. Cass, Kenny, and Colmyster, who have given their support to Elly for all her “sad little songs” have also contributed to the track.
A mix of roots, folk, and alternative genres, Elly took about two weeks to record the song. This is also the first song she produced herself using LogicPro. Although she describes herself as a technophobe, she managed to learn music software over the pandemic with the help of her boyfriend. ‘Remember Who You Were’ was recorded at Unit 2 Studios in North Acton, London. The artwork was made by Elly and Alan Tobin.
We wish her the best of luck.
