The darkness always brings them out. On October 31st, ahmed. (the artist stylized in lowercase with a dot) delivered his latest single, 'Nosferatu,' a high-energy Indie Pop track that channels the haunting experience of emotional unavailability.

'Nosferatu' takes its name from the 1922 horror classic. But forget the silent film; the real horror here is emotional distance. The song frames a deeply modern feeling: the connection that only exists after midnight. It's the story of a girl who acts like a vampire. She only reaches out under the cloak of night, when she’s lonely or needs a quick favor, and vanishes the second the sun comes up. This compelling exploration of fleeting, nocturnal intimacy is the third killer single off his upcoming album, One Last Movie Night, hitting early next year.

The man behind the mic, Ahmed Malik, was raised on a loud, rocking diet of Creed and Guns N’ Roses, but his sound evolved perfectly into the thoughtful, textured indie world of his current influences: Jon Bellion, Jeremy Zucker, Mac Miller, and Dominic Fike. Though he's only 18, ahmed.'s production process demonstrates striking commitment. The track’s core instrumental was laid down in 2023, then stalled for two years! This past summer, he and his writing partner, Isaac Gordon (a multi-instrumentalist from Utah, USA), finally got into "album mode" and smashed out the rest of the song in one spontaneous sitting. Fun fact: The long-distance collaboration started purely through comments on Isaac's piano covers.

Now for the best, most unique detail: ahmed. records everything from the most intimate studio imaginable: his mom’s house, specifically his bedroom and his closet. He lays down instruments while still in bed and steps into his closet to record vocals, a process that perfectly captures the track's intimate, late-night mood. And about that horror-movie title? "I had actually never even seen Nosferatu when I wrote and titled the song," ahmed. admits. He just wanted something cooler than "Vampire."

Dedicated to his craft, ahmed. defines his story with one word: "Restless." He is grounded by his five essentials: his guitar, his cat, his peace of mind, chai, and the need for a muse to center his lyrics. He currently aspires to collaborate with domestic star Prateek Kuhad and international influence Dominic Fike.

'Nosferatu' is streaming NOW. Go listen to the sound of emotional distance!
