In the mood for some good old rock? Here’s Winterchild’s latest release ‘Tum Hi ho’ for you
A band that believes that “The night is darkest before dawn,” Winterchild defines their story as ‘friendship.’ It has Avishek Dasgupta on the vocals, Arijit Dey on the guitars, Arjun Menon on the keyboards, Siddharth Singh on the bass, and Antariksh Pandey on the drums. They met through some common forums in 2013 during their stint at Infosys. While they came together as a band in 2013 with their prog outfit ‘The Pulse Theory,’ ‘Winterchild’ was formed more recently in 2018. “It is very simply the story of chasing your dreams and all the efforts that come along with it,” the band said when asked to tell their story.
Based in Bangalore since 2011, the band members are, as the band describes it, in their “semi-uncle phase of the 30s.” Dream Theater, Scorpions, Floyd, Steven Wilson, Sting, Vai, Meshuggah, Animals as Leaders, and Devin Townsend are some of their other influences. The four-year-old band is arguably the only band performing a tribute to Poets Of the Fall, one of their main influences as a band. It got them a lot of acclaims.
Their latest song ‘Tum Hi Ho’ done in association with Saregama Official, is their first foray into Hindi original music. Released on the 13th of September, it is their second collaboration with Saregama Official as a part of their ‘Saregama Fresh Initiative’ to promote indie music. Their earlier release ‘Maula Mere Saath’ also found tremendous success.
‘Tum Hi Ho’ aims to create an uplifting mood with some good old rock vibes. The true blue indie track has some components of 80s rock vibes with a strong onus on melodies. The Hindi rock song has been curated by the well-known music producer Gourav Dasgupta who was also instrumental in landing this project. The entire process took about two weeks for the team. While the vocal dubbing and the video shoot were done in Bangalore, most of the mixing and mastering was done in Mumbai. The credits for the artwork go to the Saregama team.
We can’t wait to see what Winterchild has in store for us next.
