It starts with a board game.
Then somehow you're in the middle of a Latin pop anthem, a telenovela, and an unexpectedly honest conversation about relationships.
That's Noush! for you.
The Mumbai-based producer, songwriter, performer, and creative director has never been interested in taking the obvious route. Her latest single, Snakes and Ladders, transforms a childhood classic into a vibrant meditation on responsibility, wrapped in infectious grooves, cinematic storytelling, and the kind of visual ambition that extends far beyond the music itself.
Operating under her creative identity Noush! FM, Anoushka Sivasankar isn't building a catalogue of songs as much as she's building a universe. Inspired by the idea of a radio station, every release becomes a different "frequency" exploring new moods, genres, stories, and influences while remaining connected to the same creative world. The philosophy is refreshingly simple: "Come tune in, you might find your station." It's an approach that allows every release to stand on its own while still feeling like another chapter in a much larger story.
That philosophy is woven throughout Snakes and Ladders. Drawing from the familiar ups and downs of the classic board game, the song explores the boundaries of responsibility within relationships. Built around the idea that it takes two to tango, it asks an uncomfortable but necessary question: where does your responsibility end, and someone else's begin? Through groove-driven Latin rhythms, contemporary pop production, and rich vocal harmonies, the track turns that emotional push and pull into something equally reflective and irresistibly danceable.
If the songwriting is thoughtful, the production is just as intentional. Noush! often hears her songs almost completely formed before she ever opens a session. Arrangements, harmonies, textures, and emotional dynamics arrive together, with the studio becoming less a place of discovery and more a place of translation. Co-produced with Ramon Ibrahim and mixed and mastered by Hersh Desai at Mumbai's Island City Studios, Snakes and Ladders balances cinematic scale with infectious energy. The accompanying music video, inspired by the heightened drama of classic telenovelas and Indian television serials, expands the story even further while marking Noush!'s emergence as a performer, actor, and dancer. Much of the project itself was conceived from her bedroom studio in Mumbai, proving that ambitious ideas don't need extravagant beginnings.
With Snakes and Ladders, Noush! isn't simply releasing another pop single. She's inviting listeners into the growing world of Noush! FM, where music, visuals, movement, and storytelling are all tuned to the same frequency. If this is your first time tuning in, don't be surprised if you stay for the next broadcast.
