In conversation with Moombahton Massiv as he tells us about his latest release “Whine It Up”
1. What inspired you to become an artist?
Massiv: I have been a dancer since I was 5 years old, and as I grew up I realized I was born to perform and entertain. I started focusing on my passion and turned into a profession.
2. How did you come up with the name Massiv. ?
Massiv: So basically my artist name is “Moombahton Massiv” Moombahton is the genre I play and produce and in the early days I was introduced to reggae music and I started listening to reggae alot. And out they used to use this word alot “Massive” “Massive” so I just picked that up and also Massiv means huge, I always wanted to become a huge personality in life.
3. Tell us a little about your latest release “Whine It Up”
Massiv: Whine it up is a fiery moombahton banger with powerful vocals and a catchy drop. Bouncy percussion and horns aplenty mark this record as a spitfire track, tbh it’s built for the dancefloor.
4. How did you come across Richie Loop?
Massiv: So in 2017 I released a remix for Richie Loops' track “Move Like”, which really amazed him, and we decided to collaborate on an original track. In 2019 I made this Idea of “Whine it up” and sent him across, and he started composing the track.
And finally we released it in 2022, after alot of experiments and hustle.
5. In what genre is your latest release?
Massiv: So this genre is called “Moombahton”, Moombahton is a powerful groovy genre which has a different sass in it. It keeps you grooving on the dancefloor
6. How long did you take to compose and produce “Whine It Up”?
It took me and Richie loop 3 years to finish this heater
7. What drove you into making electronic music?
Massiv: In early 2012 I started listening alot of EDM music from artists like Hardwell, Martin Garrix, etc and then I came across this guy who flipped things for me, he is none other than “Skrillex”.
I started listening to alot of his music and in a few years, he became my Idol. It’s my dream to be on his record label “OWSLA” I even have a tattoo of it.
8. What is it about being an artist that you love the most?
Massiv: The best thing about being an artist is freedom to play and perform anything that I love. I really love to experiment with new fresh sounds in my productions. Also, music has taken me places which I never imagined of.
