Mehr narrates the battles in her mind with 'I've Danced with the Devil'

That's the thing about time - it makes you compare different phases of your life and evaluate your worth accordingly. Well, if you feel the same way, Mehr has been in a similar situation. The 20-year old artist is based in New Delhi is currently studying architecture. She tells us that she began writing lyrics at the early age of 11 and also learned the guitar in the process. Since then, she has grown from strength to strength as an emerging artist. For this track, she says that inspiration came from artists like Hozier and Halsey.

Her latest release, 'I've Danced with the Devil' dropped on February 14, 2021. The song is about nostalgia and the different phases life takes us through. It's a retrospective narration where she thinks about who she used to be. In a hypomanic personality, she tells us that she felt powerful and invincible while being destructive and ruthless at the same time. She calls this phase of her life the dance with the Devil. Mehr believes that every day is a decision to be good or bad and that our journey depends on this choice and whether we feed the good man or the bad. The song was written a year earlier, but Mehr was not sure about it and kept it shelved until Mukund, the producer of the track believed in it and pushed her to release it.

Mehr created the album art herself and tells us that every song in this EP has a specific color linked to it, leading to her painting for each track as well. The vocals were recorded at Katha Ras Studios. Mehr uses her songs to express things she can't normally and was a coping mechanism in some sense. She dreams of working with Taylor Swift or Bon Iver. Talking about her view on life she quotes, “Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, but today is a gift. That is why it is called present.”
