There is a specific kind of precision required to build both a structure and a song. For Arjan Singh, an architect turned singer songwriter from Jaipur, the transition from designing buildings to crafting ballads was not just a career shift but a soulful evolution. His latest release, “Khair,” is a quiet and introspective masterclass in acceptance, proving that the most powerful stories are often told in shifting whispers rather than loud outbursts.
Arjan describes himself as a Musafir, a traveler on a lifelong journey that began with seven simple notes played on a keyboard at the age of five. While formal training was never part of the blueprint, his musical foundation was built on the storytelling giants of the 1960s through the 1990s. From the soulful ease of Lucky Ali to the timeless melodies of Mohammed Rafi, these influences have shaped Arjan into a storyteller who binds original poetry with a distinct semi acoustic percussive guitar style. His music is honest, born out of real life experiences, and rooted in the firm belief that lyrics are the very soul of a song.
The story behind “Khair” is one of fragile realization. Inspired by a school era heartbreak where the girl he liked had feelings for his best friend, the track captures that specific moment when love slips away without anger. Instead of resistance, Arjan chooses grace. The song portrays love as Ibaadat, a form of worship where pain is embraced with a gentle smile. Through the recurring use of the word Shayad, Arjan explores the human tendency to hold on to hope even when the truth is already evident. It is not a song about moving on; it is about standing still and loving someone quietly from a distance.
Recorded at DBout Music Studio in Mumbai, the track went through multiple evolutions before finalizing the intimate arrangement that features layered vocal harmonies. Arjan, who also designed the artwork himself, juggles the unpredictable life of a performing artist with a deep need for Sukoon and Sabr. Whether he is performing on a global stage or finding stillness with a cup of chai, Arjan Singh continues to design emotional landscapes that resonate with anyone who has ever loved deeply and let go without complaint.
